Meet Dafydd Pett

Hello! I’m Dafydd Pett, the proud founder and head beekeeper at The Welsh Honey Company. My journey with bees began long before I started the business — it began with my grandfather, Mike Pett, who kept hives in his South Wales garden back in 1969.

By the time I was 11 years old, I had my own hive and was already captivated by the magic of beekeeping. When my grandfather passed away in 2017, I inherited around 30 hives — and with them, a lifelong mission to protect bees, champion Welsh honey, and share their story with the world.

Every jar of our honey tells a story — of wild Welsh landscapes, pollinating flowers, and the people who protect them.
We focus on:

  • Natural, unpasteurised honey straight from the hive

  • Sustainable, ethical beekeeping practices

  • Supporting biodiversity and protecting pollinators

  • Educating and inspiring future generations of beekeepers

What began as a small family passion has now grown into a thriving Welsh business.

In 2025, I was honoured to be named a finalist in the BBC Countryfile Young Countryside Champion Awards.
The award recognises young people making a positive impact on the rural environment and countryside life — and being part of that recognition is a huge moment for me and the company.

Tune in: Countryfile, BBC One — Sunday at 17:20
You can see me featured talking about beekeeping, sustainability, and our mission to make Welsh honey more accessible and ethical.
